Terms of Service
Effective date: October 21, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of the Understream website at understream.app (the "Website") and the Understream platform at app.understream.app (the "Platform"), both operated by Understream LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("Understream," "we," "us"). Sections 1 and 2 apply to everyone who visits the Website. The remaining sections apply to churches and ministries that create a Platform account ("Church," "you"). By creating an account, the Church agrees to these Terms. The person accepting these Terms confirms they are authorized to do so on the Church's behalf.
1. Using Our Website
The Website shares information about Understream. Its content is for general information only and may change at any time without notice. Prices, features and availability shown on the Website are confirmed at signup. You may view and share Website pages for personal or ministry use, but you may not copy, sell or republish Website content, or try to disrupt the Website.
2. Privacy and Cookies
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information on both the Website and the Platform, including the cookies each one uses.
3. What the Platform Provides
Understream is subscription software that helps church leaders track ministry health and coordinate people. Features may include attendance and growth tracking, discipleship pathway tracking, volunteer team management and check-ins, culture surveys, AI-assisted insights, and digital volunteers that automate guest follow-up texts, next-step class check-ins and volunteer team matching. Features available to you depend on your plan.
4. Accounts and Access
You are responsible for the people you invite to your Church's account, the roles you assign them, and keeping sign-in links and devices secure. Tell us promptly at info@righteousai.me if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
5. People Your Church Invites to Take Part
Some people use parts of the Platform without their own account, such as volunteers checking in by phone, people answering a culture survey, and guests who receive texts. These people do not accept these Terms themselves. Your Church is responsible for inviting them, for how they use the Platform on your behalf, and for any notice or consent they need. We handle their information as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Your Data
Information your Church enters or uploads, including information about your members, guests and volunteers ("Church Data"), belongs to your Church. You give Understream permission to store, process and display Church Data only to provide and support the Platform for you. We do not sell Church Data.
You are responsible for having the right to provide Church Data to Understream, including any notice or consent your members, guests and volunteers need to receive.
7. Text Messaging
When your Church turns on features that send text messages, you agree to:
Collect clear consent before any person receives a text, using the opt-in wording Understream provides.
Honor opt-outs. Anyone can reply STOP to stop receiving texts.
Provide accurate legal details about your Church for carrier registration.
Understream may pause texting for a Church whose messages risk carrier penalties or violate these Terms.
8. AI-Assisted Features
Some features use artificial intelligence to draft messages, extract information from uploaded documents, or suggest observations about your data. These outputs are suggestions based on the data you provide. They can be incomplete or wrong. Your Church's leaders remain responsible for decisions made using them. Anything pastoral, including prayer requests and replies from guests, is routed to your people and is never answered automatically.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Understream to:
Break any law, including messaging, privacy and anti-spam laws.
Upload information about children under 13. Understream is not designed for children's information.
Target or treat people differently based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin or immigration status.
Attempt to access another Church's data or disrupt the Platform.
Copy, resell or reverse engineer the Platform.
10. Plans, Billing and Renewal
Plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis through our payment processor, Stripe. Current prices and plan details are listed on our Pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Pilot pricing applies for the period stated on the Pricing page or at signup, after which the standard rate applies. We will give at least 30 days' notice before any price change affects your next renewal.
If a payment fails, we will notify you and allow a grace period to update payment details before features are paused. Cancellations and refunds are covered by our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
11. Cancellation and Your Data
You may cancel at any time from your Billing settings. After your service ends, your Church Data is kept for 30 days. During that time you can sign in to export your volunteer and ministry data and summary metrics. AI-assisted features, digital volunteers and text messaging stop when service ends. After 30 days, Church Data is deleted from our active systems. Backup copies are removed on their regular schedule.
12. Our Intellectual Property
Understream, the Website, the Platform, and their software, design, frameworks and content are owned by Understream LLC and protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms give you a limited right to use the Platform during your subscription. Feedback you share may be used to improve Understream without obligation to you.
13. Availability and Changes
We work to keep the Website and Platform available and secure, but they may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may improve, change or retire features over time. If we make a material change to these Terms, we will notify account owners before it takes effect.
14. Disclaimer
The Website and Platform are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Understream does not provide legal, financial or pastoral counseling advice.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Understream LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or lost data, revenue or donations. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Website or Platform is limited to the amount your Church paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
16. Ending These Terms
We may suspend or end access for a Church that seriously or repeatedly violates these Terms, after notice where reasonable. Sections 6, 12, 14, 15 and 17 continue after these Terms end.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.
